Cross-platform app development

Apps with native performance for iOS, Android, and desktop from a single codebase. Reduce development costs without sacrificing quality or performance.

What is a cross-platform app?

A cross-platform app is an application built from a single codebase that runs on both iOS and Android, and on desktop too if the project calls for it. Compared with maintaining two separate native apps, it shortens development time and simplifies maintenance. At Leonwebs, an agency based in León (Spain), we build cross-platform apps with Flutter and React Native and take care of publishing them on the App Store and Google Play.

Benefits of a cross-platform app

One codebase, all platforms

Build once, deploy to iOS, Android, web, and desktop. Less cost, same quality.

Native performance

Flutter compiles to native code and React Native uses each system's native components, for a smooth experience on iOS and Android.

Faster time to market

A single codebase for iOS and Android shortens development time and simplifies maintenance compared with two native apps.

Simplified maintenance

A single update is applied across all platforms simultaneously.

How we build your app

  1. Product definition

We identify target platforms, features, and audience.

  2. Cross-platform design

UI adapted to iOS (Human Interface) and Android (Material Design).

  3. Shared development

Shared code with native components where needed.

  4. Testing and publishing

QA on real devices and store publishing.

Frequently asked questions about cross-platform apps

Native or cross-platform app: which is right for me?

For most business apps, cross-platform is the better choice: a single codebase covers iOS and Android, with less development time and simpler maintenance. Native development pays off when the app relies heavily on features that are very specific to one platform. With Flutter and React Native we can also access the camera, GPS, sensors, and push notifications, and we integrate native components where needed.

Flutter or React Native?

It depends on the project. Flutter, based on the Dart language, draws its own interface: it delivers a consistent look across every platform and also covers desktop and web from the same codebase. React Native uses JavaScript or TypeScript and each system's native components, and it is a great fit when your website or your team already works with React. At Leonwebs we work with both and recommend one or the other after reviewing the requirements.

Do you handle publishing the app on the App Store and Google Play?

Yes. We handle the whole publishing process on the App Store and Google Play: we test the app on real devices, adapt the design to each platform's guidelines, and submit it for review. Approval times depend on Apple and Google.
